Andrew Roberts - a background intro:
Born November 1989, I spent the first 7 years of my life living in Ware, Hertfordshire, before moving to Hartley, Kent, UK in June 1997. Thirteen years later, I still live with my parents and younger sister in the family house. Following in the footsteps of the rest of the family, I have been propagating plants from a young age mainly comprising of shrubs, alpines and winter bulbs. Now in 2010 my concentration is solely on Helianthemum nummularium cultivars including the collection containing over 100 name cultivars and associated propagation.
Career wise my main specialism is IT, currently employed by a local manufacturer of corrugated board whilst maintaining the Helianthemum collection as a hobby. Previously a student at The Leigh Technology Academy in Dartford, I focused on primarily on A-levels and vendor certifications with a background in Cisco, Microsoft and Oracle solutions. Away from the academic side of things, I have also been involved in many voluntary local projects.
Originally launched in 2006, Helianthemums.co.uk is now on its fourth major update developing from a brief introduction to the collection to provide a mail order service launching in 2010. Many choose to use the site to assist with the naming of Helianthemum cultivars, the comprehensive list including scanned flowers and foliage makes this possible.
